Some times when they’re over tired they fight the sleep. And he may be tired because of the later bedtime. Do you need more time in the morning to get him ready? If so... start waking him up a little earlier. It’s going to be rough for the first couple of days but if you shift his wake and bedtime all together it may help. Earlier nap.. from 1-3 pm and then get in that earlier dinner around 530 or 6 and bed by 745? Like above poster.. I limit my son’s nap so it doesn’t mess his schedule up. I don’t usually let him nap past 4 pm and he goes down at the latest 130 pm. Goes down for bedtime at 730 pm.
