8mo peeing through diaper during the night

CJN

My son has recently been peeing through diaper during the night. He weighs about 20lbs and i put him in size 4 diapers to hold more. I've tried doubling up on fitted sheets so i wouldn't have to change the mattress cover everytime! I just don't know if I'm doing something wrong or what i can do to make it better! TIA!

Are you using overnight diapers? I really like the Honest company’s overnight diapers.

My son has always been in a diaper size bigger than weight suggested. He’s 22ish pounds and wears a size 5 to bed so he doesn’t wet through and wake up at night.

Yep, I would get night diapers as they are meant to hold Pee longer amounts of time than normal diapers, also, consider buying mattress pee protector fitted cover, you will need it for potty training anyway, and it will save the mattress if there are more leaks... all else fails you may need to change brands, some hold pee better than others. I like Target’s Up and Up brand, affordable and hold the pee very well.

I'd suggest a "nighttime" style diaper and also possibly sizing up or down. Leaking usually happens when the fit is off, and the weight limits are just suggestions. Every brand seems to fit a little different. My son has a really narrow waist and sleeps up on his knees, so we had to find an option that was a slimmer fit to avoid a waste gap at night. My son is 22 months (27 lbs) and fits a size 4 as well, so lots of range there. Good luck!

I get a size up of the pamper swaddles and a sposie diaper booster pad. I haven’t had a leak since

We had the same issue with our son around the same age and we switched from Pampers swaddlers to Pampers baby dry and that took care of it. We never had another leak.

My kid uses overnight Huggies for the night but I have to change it in the middle of the night just to make sure it won't get too messy. We used to do two diapers before lol but didn't work out

I use overnight diapers and Sposie pads (from Amazon). They are like a giant maxi pad you put inside the diaper to help soak up more pee. Bc my twin boys would soak through every morning too.

We used overnight diapers and a diaper change as close to bedtime as possible.

My newborn was peeing through diapers pretty regularly. I had some disposable liners you use for reusable diapers and have been lining the disposables with them. Seems to be working well and I'm not going through as many diapers doubling up.

Go up a size and get nighttime diapers. We went through the same problem. We also started pull ups early cause we found that they hold more.

Overnight diapers worked for my daughter until she potty trained at 2.

I'd literally had to wake up at night and change my daughters diapers, otherwise they would pee through and wet her bed. She goes through 2 diapers a night.
