9 month old spits food back out just to self feed 🤦🏾‍♀️

Our 9 month old eats pretty good, we try to let her self feed for the most part, but whenever we feed her something she likes to spit it out or grab it out of her mouth with her little pinchers and feed herself. Is this normal? Can I teach her not to do it?

Look in to baby led weaning! It’s natural for them to want to feed themselves Would you like to be fed ? Best of luck!

Our son is 10 months old now, and he will do that from time to time still, he did that a LOT for the whole 9 month old phase/ it gets better, what we did was because he was wanting to do that, just introduced baby silverware that he could have food on and feed himself with!! It’s all about the mocking thing- if you put it on a fork and eat while she does, odds are shes going to start picking it up!!

Mine did the same thing - it was like she wanted to see how the food changed through different stages of chewing. A little messy, and I had to make sure to wash her hands and face both before and after meals, but she grew out of it

She’s independent. Trust me, my sons always been the same way.

With solids we’d let her feed herself, but she more tears it apart, stares, eats a little and drops it 😅 it’s just when it comes to oatmeal and other foods that need to be spoon fed, but I guess it’s time to start letting her try to do it on her own.
