Almost 9 year old daughter

Anonymous

I am so lost with my daughter. For the past month or so she has had a horrible attitude, she is acting like a teenager. Anyone else have this experience with their daughter at this age? It seems so early.

My 8 year old stepdaughter is the same way. Has a horrible attitude and I have no idea why and how to fix it before she gets older and it gets worse.

It’s like she turned into a teenager overnight. I thought I had more time before this happened.

I’m considering taking mine to see a therapist. Because I don’t know what else to do at this point. There’s no way a little girl should have an attitude this bad.

My kids did the same thing. Check at school. Bullying was the caused of their bad attitude. The schoool knew about but never called me or tried to fixed the problem.

I keep asking her if something happened to her. It’s been a month and I don’t know who this child is. Rude, sassy, no manners. I feel like I’m constantly telling her to stop acting like that or I will take this away... or you can’t do that. I’m so lost.

My 5 yr old rolls his eyes at me- says “whatever” calls me annoying. He’s 5. 5

The 9 year old age is an interesting one. They’re coming into their own personalities. I would say practice patience and and maintain your stance as the parent. It’ll get better

My 9 year old is the same way.. very mouthy. Has to be reminded constantly to not talk back, watch her tone, not be rude. Actually the last time she was grounded was for her mouth.. yelling at me and being mean to her siblings. It's scary sometimes.. because yeah, only 9.

Darnell is right. Patience and try to understand their side. They are changing. Girls tend to go through puberty earlier, my daughter had her first period at 9.... Look for a book called Conscious parenting by Safadi(i think?). Wish I had read it before she was born. It was eye opening for both my ex and me.

Get her off You-tube. I found that you-tube stars had become the new “reality TV” that my girls started role modeling. I had to bring them back to reality by disconnecting them from that additional peer pressure.
