My boy decided to come into this world on a Friday the 13th with a full moon at 33 weeks and 3 lbs. He was in NICU for almost a month. He is now a healthy 3 year old who has just started early preschool. As a heads-up for NICU moms, make sure they not only assess your child's development using the ASQ3, but also the Bayley-III scale for infant development of preterm children. You don't want you children being labeled as developmentally delayed when their gestational age hasn't been accounted for.

I have a 30 a weeker who was in the NICU for 56 days and he just turned 9 months yesterday. It was rough for the entire family. I'm still going through postpartum depression from my first child and it carried into after having my second kid. I now I have PTSD from my son being in the NICU and apparently it's common. Hang in there! It's a very tough road, but you'll get through it.

I have severe anxiety and depression still. I have a mental breakdown at least once a week, but I still have to take care of my boys... Take it one day at a time...

I know exactly how you feel. I spoil my baby because he was in the NICU so long. He longs to be held and no one minds holding him for a long time.

I had to hold my preemie every time he slept for 2 months after he came home from the NICU. He would never let me put him down.

Yes!! I had my twins on July 20th at 27 and weeks 4 days. They've been in the NICU 7 weeks and still have another 4-5 weeks at least. They both have the nasal feeding tube as well. SO happy to see your little babe is off of oxygen!! 🎉

My son was born at 23 weeks, 3 days. 1lb, 6.5oz. He turned two in June and besides the scars from various surgeries/procedures no on can tell! It was a tough ride but stay strong and informed.

My son was a 31 weeker and had about a 5 week NICU stay. He just turned 1 and he’s reaching most of milestones. He had to monitored because he had two brain bleeds are birth, but so far they haven’t affected him.

27 weeks 2lbs 11oz 15 inches My pregnancy wasn’t easy at all; stayed in the hospital 19 days before my daughter was born on bed rest. She spent 1.5 months at the NICU in the hospital she was born; then transferred to a children’s hospital for another 1.5 months. When we started breastfeeding her she had complications with suck, swallow and breathe; this causing her to aspirate the breastmilk and her lung collapsed. By the time we took her home she could be fed with a bottle and we’ve been doing great since. Now she’s 15 Months and you would never guess she is a preemie. Reaching most of all the milestones and a couple extra ones a bit early LOL It definitely wasn’t easy but we did it!!!
