Any tips on how to change a one year old's diaper ??

I’ve been trying so many things but nothing helps so can anyone tell me what to do. It's hard changing a one year old's diaper!

Definitely change on the floor if you aren't already. 1 year olds are super squirmy. I usually chase after mine while i'm changing her. For poop it's tricky because I don't want her to run away so I try to distract her with something she doesn't normally get to play with (like the pack of wipes). When they are slightly older like 18 months I've resorted to handing over my phone as a distraction for a few minutes.

If it’s a wet diaper. I will not have the fight of laying my daughter down and I will just change her while she is standing up. When I need to lay her down, I try to make a game of it, like pretending to smell her feet and saying “pe-ew!” And then she is playing and having a fun time and distracted while I’m changing her diaper. Good luck! It’s a tricky tricky thing to do!

I honestly avoiding changing unless it’s a poop, or superrrr full pee. Also- I let him hold something random usually a fragile item or something small he wouldn’t usually get to hold so he thinks he’s so cool haha

I have gotten used to changing her diaper while she is standing...or we have a little whale light she likes to play with changes colours when you hit it, so she stays distracted

Oh yeah! This one is tricky we went trough that phase, but I got used to changing them standing up, while she is crawling or breastfeeding. I dance, jump and sing to distract her. But this phase passes, so hang in there mama.

Once my little man turned 1 we switched to pull up even though we where not potty training just to get him trying to get comfortable with pulling up and down

The squirmy diaper changes are about to do me in! I’m totally with you. We got the poopoose changing pad for our changing table and it is really helpful! It has a soft strap situation that really hold him in (plus, now he knows that it will hold him and doesn’t even try to squirm). It’s seriously so helpful that I’m about to get one for the car, too 😂.

What I do is I have my husband hold a toy over my baby head and she’s just focusing on the toy and doesn’t care about what I’m doing or when her at work I do the arm leg method basically just put you legs on top of their arms to hold them down And you can try making a game of it
