At what age did you introduce your baby to a “lovey”? Im thinking of giving my daughter one but is it a suffocation risk? How did you introduce it?

I kinda tucked it into my son's arms when he was skiing in his rock and play. And just on the bed next to him. He never took to it though. So I didn't bother with my daughter

I introduced it around four months and made sure it is breathable. Also, no loose buttons, eyes that can come off... I removed it after he had fallen asleep for the first few weeks. Make sure to have at least 2 that you rotate. My son started to get really attached to it around 8 or 9 months and can't sleep without it anymore. We've spent evenings looking for the stupid lovey because we didn't have a replacement. When I introduced it I used to keep it in the crib, only available to him for sleep. I also kept it between baby and me during the evening nursing session to rub off some scent and connect it with a happy, relaxed situation. If you make it something special, they'll start to take to it after a while.

6 months up but she never appreciated it. So I kept it away. Come 1 year old, my MIL noticed when she was putting my baby to sleep that my baby grabbed her bib and hugged it as if being comforted. My MIL got her a new lovey and she instantly got attached to it.

My 4 month old just started playing with them. My other daughter took to different things at different ages.

My daughter never took to one. She was given a special teddy bear for her first birthday & that quickly became her forever friend. She's 3 and still sleeps with it & brings it one many outings. We have 2 back ups.

We introduced one at about 4 months. I "wore" it for a while anytime it was washed to make sure it had some of my scent. Our daughter is two now and still sleeps with it. But definitely make sure you have back ups. We have 3, one for home, one for day care and a spare.

My son had a blanket from the time he was born. He sleep with it and carried it around until he was 10 years old. He was like Linuz from Charlie Brown.
