Reply to Any moms who had complications at birth? Specifically hypoxic-ischemic enceph...

I was in labor for over 18 hours, pushed for 3, and doctors suddenly discovered that baby was sunny side up (why did it take the docs that long to figure it out? Topic for another conversation). Anyway, that resulted in me having an emergency c-section bc baby's heart rate was dropping and my blood pressure was rising. It was complicated (for me), but did not require any time in the NICU. As for what the craniosacral therapist told me: (I'm paraphrasing) baby's muscles can get stuck in one position as a result of lying in one position for an extended period of time in the womb, so their muscles are stuck similar to having a crick in the neck. This results in the baby favoring one side, which is why they get uncomfortable when forced into a position they don't like, and also what results in flat head. She also advised against too much swaddling because it doesn't allow the baby to release their muscles. The therapy did help him sleep longer stretches. Hope this helps, and that you are able to find a solution soon!
