Baby food

My son who is almost 11 months still prefers baby puree. I try to give him chunks of food but he's not interested quite yet. I'm not worried about it, I know he will switch when he's ready. Anyone else son/daughter still eat only puree? If so how many jars at a sitting.

Are you adding rice/oatmeal/multitude grains to the purée? Is he drinking his 8oz of BMilk/formula?

I do add oatmeal to his food so its thicker. He drinks about 2-3 8 oz bottles a day and one at night

So depending on his height, weight, and age, you might want to speak to his doctor about how much milk he should be taking. I have a big boy all around (96%) and I was told he could take up to 40oz a day. You might want to give a bottle for breakfast lunch an dinner as well. This way he is taking in all the nutrients he requires for his first year. After bottle I give my son finger food and if he eats it it’s a plus. If he doesn’t then I know he already has enough from the formula to be satisfied.

Also my son is obsessed with these... they melt in his moths so he won’t choke. Maybe your son will like them too!

Thank you! He is in the 90th percentile as well. I will start giving him more bottles as well. He does eat the puffs. He loves them. I will try the yogis

Even if he’s only eating the puree I think you should still consistently put real foods on his tray for 3 meals a day. Even if he’s not eating it! Maybe eventually he’ll warm up to it and you wanna be sure you’ve got food there to jump on the opportunity 😁

I agree with Anonymous. Keep giving finger foods at each meal. The only way they will get used to solids is consistency. My little one is 10 months but loves food and is half puree half solids. He has about 15ozs of milk a day and about 15ozs of food a day. Most days its between 25/30ozs in total. I started with finger foods around 6/6.5 months i started with rusk crackers as they melt in their mouths. Im not sure increasing his milk will get him eating more solids than purees, imo it will decrease his purees. Also try foods about an hour or so after a bottle so hes a little hungry but not starving, when they are really hungry they dont have the patience to eat solids.

Thank you Kerry for your advice. I have noticed his patience is very short cause he's ready to eat. I will take that into consideration!

Your welcome! Yes mines the same, if its meal time and hes really tired like today i feed just puree. Weve had short naps today lol. You could also try a little puree then finger foods. Start with anything thats mushable with your tongue and roof of your mouth, like really cooked carrots, sweet potato, avocado, banana once he gets the hang of chewing its easier to move to things like pasta, toast, regular cereal. When you give him solids what size is it?
