Baby number 2

My husband and I have a 1 year old son and just found out we are pregnant with a second baby, this wasn’t expected. I want to know how to make sure my son doesn’t feel left out and unloved now that he’ll have a little sibling. Both my husband and I had just set our minds on only having our son but I guess life had other plans.

We have a 7 month old and just found out we’re pregnant! We weren’t sure about having a second one and love our first so very much that I’m scared there’s no more love left for the second one (which I know is such a silly thought and impossible). I feel the same way though, we’ll need to figure this out! I hope someone can share advice with us.

I felt the same way when I got pregnant with my second. When I had him, I didnt feel like that anymore. My oldest surprised me when he was so loving and sweet to the new one and is still so helpful with him. My first is 2 and a half and my second is now 2 months old. He doesnt get jealous at all because I include him in feedings and I read a story at bedtime with both of them and make sure when the newborn is sleeping, my toddler and I have one on one play time. I also made sure the baby got a "gift" for the toddler when he was born so that it started them out on the right path.

Anisca, I felt the same way also!!! “How can I possibly love something as much as I love my son!” It’s amazing how full your heart gets. It’s also a little scary at times too!

It’s normal to feel this way! I have 3 kids first two are 19 months apart and my youngest is 10 years younger than my oldest. I went though different stages with all of them with my first two being so close it was so easy including both of them together as they got older. With my third it was a little harder as my older two no longer thought it was cute or fun to be the helper as my oldest did with. T second. Also get a sling! It allows you to carry the baby and have hands free to do other things with your oldest! I had one with all mine and best thing I got.

@ Jess I love the gift idea. What was the gift of the baby to the toddler?
