Breastfeeding in public

Is there a specific kind of clothing to wear? Like buttons etc? Do I pull the shirt down or up?

There's lots of options but my personal favorite is the nursing tank under regular shirts. That way you pull up your regular shirt and pull down only the needed side of the nursing tank. Very little exposure, very economical, and reliably easy. I also think that most nursing tops look awful, and it's nice to wear my normal shirts again after being pregnant.

the nursing tank tops were my favorite and super convenient! I could wear one of the tank tops and have baby in the carrier and just have them nurse while I was walking. Some of the carriers have covers over top otherwise I would just use a nursing cover

I did the same! Tank top under a regular shirt, you just pull the flap down

I also did the nursing tanks but at the end of the day it’s whatever you’re comfortable doing!

Do what feels most comfortable for you. With my son I was nervous at first and wore nursing tops/tanks and used a peek a boo cover. As I got more comfortable I started to just wear my regular shirts/bras (did the pull up method😊) and gave up the heavy cover and used a light weight muslin swaddle blanket that I tied around my neck. A lot of it depends on where you are and how modest you want to be.

I just wore loose shirts and would pull it up. The extra fabric came down to cover my stomach but nothing covered baby's head.

I never really liked the clothing specifically designed for nursing so I just did (and still do) the tank top trick where I wear a stretchy tank top under whatever my regular shirt is. That way I can lift up the upper shirt and pull down the tank top to get my boob out. In the summer when it's really hot out I'd sometimes just do the tank top and no shirt over it and then just pull down the tank top and whip out a boob. It's not for everyone but over time I've just gotten to the point where I care less and less if other people see my boobs as I realized that no one actually is paying attention to what I'm doing or cares.

I liked nursing shirts. They basically have a boob slit in them so you can feed and be covered. I wasn’t going to do the two layer thing in summer. But the nursing shirts are great. Pretty cheap ones at old navy, gap, H&M. Really great ones at latched mama

To add to the list, I wear loose and stretchy v-necks. That way I pop boob out from the top without needing to pull up my shirt. I did also wear button up or snap shirts as they usually look more professional/upscale depending on where I was going. Tank tops are still a favorite though as I wear those to bed just in case my son needs a feeding.

I just always had a muslin cloth with me to cover up skin in the beginning. As I became more and more comfortable with breastfeeding in public, I didn't worry about covering up as much. Nobody cares.

I usually just wear a nursing bra or tank with regular shirt that I pull up and have either a light muslin swaddle blanket in the backpack or a scarf (I wear scarves all the time) as a cover. I’m on my second child now and have had a grand total of zero people say or act uncomfortable around me when I’m nursing in public. As long as you are comfortable and your baby is fed you are good!

Definitely will try the tank, I’ve tried using a muslin swaddle but it slips off or LO pulls on it and I’m still not use to breastfeeding so my supply is suffering. It just gets hot here especially with summer now. Thank you!

I didn't use anything. Don't like it don't look is my motto
