We struggle to brush my 2 year olds teeth. He doesn’t want to let us brush and can’t do it yet on his own. Any suggestions for getting a good brushing ?
Don’t think there’s really an easy answer..... I let him “brush” and then I say ok moms turn and I stand behind him and hold his head and brush his teeth. As time has gone on he’s fought less and less. I get it sounds mean, but somethings just aren’t negotiable to me, and that’s one of the few! Teeth are so important when they’re little.
I have a teeth brushing song that I watch with my kid. You can YouTube “teethbrushing” song and a bunch pop up. I also let him help; I let him hold and brush.
I just purchased light up toothbrushes from Target for my almost 3 year old. It lights up when you push the button, and turns off when 1 minute is up (so you’d have to do it twice). He had never brushed his teeth as well as he did when he started using it.
I struggled with this as well.. my husband would hold him and I'd brush his teeth, or I'd leave him in his highchair with his tablet and do it that way after meals. Let him pick out a toothbrush! Let him brush first and then you finish or vise versa. Try an electric toothbrush, I've had goodluck with mine!
I agree with the light up tooth brushes! Those have helped as well! I think the brand is firefly
We brush in the tub. We have a tubby every night. At the end he’s already laying down so I brush them for him. He doesn’t get to play until his teeth have been brushed.
We started with the Elmo song ‘Brush teeth song’ cause it shows all these kids brushing their teeth and I also think she was just distracted enough to let me brush them. But, as the wonderment disappeared I always just enthusiastically talk about brushing teeth. I let her chew on floss when I am flossing. too cause she things that’s fun. I just try to be happy about it and we also made a spitting game that has helped.
Where did you get the lights up toothbrush. Is 2 to young for the electric toothbrush?
