Can anyone suggest swimsuits/ shorts for tweens, my daughter who's 11 loves swimming, but she prefers to wear something a little more covered, that's still stylish then what is being offered at the stores, she's stuck with board shorts that don't allow as much movement doing laps, etc any suggestions?

Do an amazon search for retro style suits. I️ usually get my kids suits from Hanna Andersson. One piece zip up

I’m a fan of fuller coverage suits and always have trouble shopping for my daughter, too but I’ve found some really cute suits for her on Amazon over the years! Here’s a couple of examples. Sometimes I can even find shorts with a long sleeved rash guard- which saves me having to apply a lot of sunscreen!

You might have better luck searching “swim dress” if you want something that’s all one piece. They aren’t all super flowy- so some would probably work for laps.

You may want to check out Athleta Girl. http://athleta.gap.com/browse/category.do?cid=XXX-XXXX&mlink=5XXX-XXXX7,HP_1107_catGirl&clink=XXX-XXXX7#style=XXX-XXXX&pageId=0 It looks like they have boyshorts bottoms and mix and match suits (plus a sale is going on right now). All the suits I have bought from them are for the athletic person...I would think the same would be for the girls line as well.

Have you tried surf companies. You might be able to find something stylish and appropiate for her to wear. As a teen I wore O'neil bikinis but I always saw the swim shirts and shorts. I did but some board shorts that were small but I had a lot of space to move really well

Thank you everyone! We've tried the surf companies, but came up not finding anything, Amazon I was worried about the quality but looks like that maybe a good option, athleta something's up with website will try again though, this has been an enlightening resources! What's sad is it's the bottoms that are a problem for my daughter and not many swim suits address the issue, I'm sure she isn't the only one...

I️ was a competitive swimmer and we used swim pants. They make them. They aren’t cheap, but they do exist. Check TYR, Orca suits etc.

Try Hanna Anderson. They often have little boy short and tops to coordinate. Also, target has had swim wear with similar options lately. The cat and Jack brand especially.

I was a competitive swimmer in high school and we all had swimsuits that are called "cat backs" they are full coverage front and back, but comfortable to swim in. The back zippers all the way up to the back of the neck. I guess now tre are called "zipper backs"!
