Commute or move

Anonymous

Currently live in a town that we love with great schools, great walkable downtown, and our family is all within a few mins, but spouse is taking a job that is only 18 miles away, but the commute is about an hour because of awful traffic. He wants to move so we are within 5 mins of his office, and the schools are actually even better there, but it’s not the same feel. I love our town and it’s where I wanted to raise our family. He works a lot so it’s nice having family around to spend time with that I can quickly go to their house. I’m not sure what the best choice is, but I’d rather live where we are and it’s creating a fight between us because he wants to move since he works so much. Ready to scream!

Is the commute only bad during the morning and evening rush or all the time? If it’s only during those time you could move and still be able to have everything near by. I can understand his point as he spends less time in traffic he can spend it more with you guys. We don’t live near any family and I would move closer to husband’s job so he can have that extra time to sleep or spend it with us.

It’s basically congested all the time. He works long hours, probably 8-8, so the kids don’t see him much anyway unfortunately, but they do enjoy seeing family. Not sure what to do, such a tough decision. It’s also less expensive tax wise to move.

Ya tats rough if he works such long hours n can barely see the kiddos n they get other family time taken away too. Maybe, there is an option of going half way or something.

K..... traffic really can kill the mood. We moved from Queens, ny to Colorado Springs and now southern Maryland and traffic is terrible. I can’t believe I tell my husband I miss Colorado Springs.

Yeah...it’s one thing if it’s back roads or something but we are stuck dealing w only 1 major highway that is always congested. Totally feel your pain! Although Colorado Springs is beautiful!

Hi there. I would move. Two hours of commuting per day because of traffic is my life and I hate it. If we could find a similar home closer to work we’d move. We are watching and waiting for the right opportunity.
