Constipated all the time

I’ve talked about this before on here. Just looking to vent/hear from parents whose baby grew out of it. My daughter is always constipated. Not exactly true since I can fix it by being hyper vigilant and making sure she eats healthy and her daily diet includes plenty of fruits, drinks lots of water, takes her probiotic daily, blah blah blah. She has also never been so constipated that she cries when passing a BM, but she daily has hard, small poops. Every morning poop is hard, small, rocks. By the end of the day she’s regular and soft/normal. Anywho, her pediatrician has told me that she’ll outgrow it usually by 3-5 years old. Soooo, please parents of constipated kiddos. Did they outgrow it?! Help.

My oldest use to have really bad constipation. We had to give her a prescription laxative, she grew out of it around 6 and no problems now

Thanks Ashly! So far her pediatrician doesn’t think her issues require a laxative. But they seem to be worse more recently (could be my imagination though). I’m also now going to try to cut back on her milk consumption (she eats really well but still drinks upwards of 30oz of whole milk every day!!). Her pediatrician recommended I try watering it down because she specifically asks for milk often and gets ticked when I give her water instead, lol. I’m starting to water it down to 20oz per day/10 oz of water mixed in to see if the copious amounts of dairy are also making her more constipated on top of everything else.

Lots of pears. I swear by whole pears. And I just don’t keep milk around when they are having belly issues.

Kiwis too. For some reason kiwis just help pass right through. And if you eat Vietnamese food, anything with fish sauce. That stuff just loosens everything right up.

My son gets constipated when eating yogurt. I’ve found that if he eats an apple on days he has yogurt, it helps a ton!

I give my kids the fiber/protein pouches from happytot seem to help them go to the bathroom. My daughter sometimes goes 2x a day and poops ALOT. She’s 3 now... when she was 1-1/2 she would also poop little tiny balls that smelled so bad and we think it was because of too much milk. She also likes water which I think helps.

Every other day I would feed whole pears or prunes. They have a lot of fiber. Try to feed lots of fiber. Raspberries too. Anytime my son has a poop that looks a little too hard I’ll toss those into his diet right away.

My little one is 18 months and I still give him baby food prunes a few times a week to help him stay regular . Oatmeal usually will back him up but if I add a little prune on the side he is okay
