Daughter had bite mark on arm at preschool, teacher says she did it while napping

Long story short, I picked up my 13 month old from daycare at 5:45 pm a day ago, and the teacher told me she had a bite mark when she woke up from napping. Her daily report said her recent nap was three hours earlier. I don’t know if I’m angry or upset that they waited this long to tell me. Anyone experience something similar?

If it isn't a serious injury, they'll often wait until pick up to tell me my daughter had some kind of bump or something during the day. Sometimes they call me at work to say something happened during the day, but that feels like overkill to me. I think the bigger question here is how does a kid get bit during nap?

May 02, 2019 daycare has a policy that they call if an accident report is generated. I don’t know how you bite yourself in your sleep though....and the one time my child ever bit herself she cried about it. I would be upset too, but mostly because I wouldn’t believe that it happened the way the teacher said it did. Good luck

I may be in the minority here but unless it is serious and needs medical care, I DON'T want them to bother me during the day. There was an age where my kid was literally biting or had been bitten so many times I became desensitized to it. If one kid in the group is a biter, odds are good it is going to go through the class like a contagion... it's very normal. And it isn't like my daycare is lax, kids in that age group move so fast, and will go after each other for no reason other than boredom. BUT. That being said, if you want to be notified, make your expectations known. They should respect your desire for earlier notification of issues, or they are not the right daycare for your family.

Please. How exactly does one bite themselves in their sleep? I get phone calls when incidents occur. I never mind them or find them unnecessary.

One bite if it wasn’t to bad I would bite my tongue but ohh my if it happened again heads would fly.
