Daycare vs nanny

Hi! My babygirl just turned One a few days ago, all this time she has been taken care of at home by me, dad, and grandmothers. She started daycare this week and we are really struggling. She doesnt sleep or drink anything while at daycare and she is having a hard time sleeping through the night. How can we make it easier for her? I am considering finding a baby sitter that can come to our home... Thank you all in advance!!

Hi Alejandra, we went thru the same struggle. We started daycare at one after being home with us or grandpa and grandma since birth. Now 2 months in she has opened up around other kids and showing personality. However week one and two were the worst but the teachers were great at giving her time to adjust. I think all the noise and chaos of the other kids were a lot to get used to. She has 2 teachers and 12 in her class and the did say she did the best after most kids went home 😀 She had to get used to a new routine and different nap and meal times. Now she is eating all the food we send and sleeping 2-3 hours at nap time. I would say stick with it and it will get better!!

Yes, I majored in Early Childhood Education, taught as an infant-toddler Head Start Teacher and Home Visitor, and now that I have my own precious baby, the thought of sending her to daycare at 1 yo, is very emotional for me, and I am, to say the least very hesitant to do this...I wish there was a different type of support system for working mothers. My work has been extremely generous by allowing me to work form home for 3 days a week. And now that she's older, I need to go back to work at least 3 days a week, possibly 4. I don't really know what I am going to do, as I've looked at family daycare (which is what I prefer, as I don't want my daughter to be a school setting quite yet)...and the programs just do not seem up to par. A part of me wants to setup my own daycare for the next two years until she's older to be in a preschool setting.
