Diaper changes when out & about?

Where do you change diapers when out in public and there is no changing table nearby? I change my daughter in the backseat of our car 90% of the time but with a baby on the way I worry where I will change them when the space in our backseat is occupied by another car seat. Any suggestions? Also-is anyone else totally pissed off about the lack of changing tables in public places?

We usually end up doing changes on the ground with our fold up changing pad. We've done changes at the airport near the gate (so much easier than one of us wrestling alone with a toddler on the changing table) or in parks.

I was on a long trip with my son and Mom, so the car was full of luggage and stuff... so I actually changed my son on a table in he restaurant when there was no large bathroom stall and no changing station...lol

Changing tables in public places skeeve me out. I have a washable diaper changing mat that I keep with me all the time and would rather do it in the trunk of my SUV than anywhere else. But impossible to do in the winter so you gotta get creative.

I’ve mastered stand-up changing with my son . With the baby we do the trunk ! It works with SUV’s

On my lap in the stall. I mastered it with my first. Or keep an extra receiving blanket that you can lay down anywhere and wash when you get home

I haven’t been anywhere where there wasn’t a changing table but I have changed my son in the seat of the car or the trunk as well but that’s just because it was faster and I didn’t want to wait in line. I had a lot of the changing mats so I changed him wherever.

We do the back of the car often too. I also got a diaper bag that folds down into a changing pad which works great. Or just on the grass or a couch or anywhere soft. We change anywhere anytime anyway we can now without worry.

The lack of changing tables in public places is ridiculous. I definitely don’t return to places when finding that they don’t have a changing table.

What’s bullshit is when there are changing tables in the women’s restroom but NOT the men’s. Absolutely infuriating!

I'd highly suggest letting that business know that a lack of a changing table is going to ensure you never return.....and also check with your state guidelines. Many require at least one accessible changing area and some form of secure baby seating (in a food establishment). If your state has those requirements they can be enforced or the business can face fines.

I had an suv so I use the trunk space a lot. I have changed him on a picnic table at the park with a portable changing pad. You find ways :)

I used the front seat passenger side. Wasn’t great but wasn’t low.

my husband changed our 3 month old anywhere he could (floor, car, trunk, bench) — i only want to use change tables .. it is appalling the lack of change tables generally available.

Our trunk would be a good option currently since my daughter is almost two and can sit in shopping carts/high chairs when we go out. So there is really no need to bring her stroller with us anymore, but when baby #2 comes that trunk space will typically be occupied with a big stroller 😞

And to all of you who never have trouble finding changing tables- I’m very envious. That’s awesome some states have laws about requiring changing tables but connecticut definitely isn’t one of them hahaha. I’ll just have to invest in some good changing pads
