Do you give your nanny a raise each year?

We plan to give our nanny a holiday bonus, but is it also common to give a raise each year?

Nanny here! I have never received a raise at the end of the year, but I have received them yearly from my date of hire. At Christmas, I have been given gifts, but have not received bonuses. With that being said, I do believe most families give bonuses in lieu of tangible items. Hope this helps!

I gave my nanny a raise every 6 months. I figured that she only got more valuable to us the longer she spent with our family!

I gave a holiday bonus (2 weeks pay) around the holidays and a raise approximately every year but that was not at the same time as the holidays.

Nanny here! I got a bonus and $2 raise at my anniversary date, which was the beginning of this month.

My nanny gets an end of year bonus. She’s salaried and gets a standard 5% increase every March, paid sick time, vacation, and holiday pay. We have also given a few salary increases based on changing job duties.

I have been a nanny with one family for 7 years now. I have not had a raise but they give me nice presents and gift cards at Christmas and in June for my birthday which I really appreciate.

I raise the rent on my tenants every year: I also raise what I pay my nanny and house cleaner.

Nanny here! I’d say a bonus is sufficient. And raise on hire date seems standard.

What would be considered a decent bonus for christmas?

Another nanny here! A holiday bonus is perfect, and your nanny should also be receiving a raise each year she is with you. At least $1 raise each year.

Amy- you deserve a raise! I highly recommend you have a meeting with your employers :)
