“Do you still LIKE being AT HOME?”

Anonymous

I always get asked this question and wonder how others handle it. It completely annoys me because what I want to say back is “Do you still like going to work?” I know that staying at home (which I hate that term because we are always out) is not for everyone but I feel like people say it to me since they don’t always know what to say.

Ignore it. Or give an honest answer. Working moms get dumb comments made all the time like "who watches the kids" and "dont you miss your children". It doesn't matter what you do, people will always have a dumb comments for you. You just have to brush it off. Or answer honestly. These could be people that are considering being stay at home parents but feel like after a while they'll hate it.

@anonymous - I would never say that to a working parent “don’t you miss being with your children,” or “doesn’t it bother you someone else is raising your kids,” because it’s RUDE. So in turn, it’s also rude to ask a parent that stays at home if they still like it.

I never said you would say that. I'm saying that no matter what kind of mom you are, people will always find something to crap on. These comments aren't always meant to be nasty. They're meant to make conversation or to find out exactly what it's like. Not everything requires an attitude.

And is it rude if they are genuinely asking?

If it’s genuine for me to ask them if they like working but don’t you miss being with your children, then sure?
