Due date

Absolutely so stressed out. I’m due Saturday and there is absolutely no changes at all. Getting admitted and induced Wednesday night next week if nothing happens. I really don’t want to sit here and exhaust myself trying to get her to come out but I also really don’t want to be induced. I’ve run out of options and I don’t know what to do.

Aw I'm sorry this is causing you stress! I was induced with my first pregnancy and it went great. There are so many horror stories out there for all kinds of birth, but in the majority of cases induction goes smoothly and leads to a great outcome. Personally if I were you, I'd would try as much as possible to sit back and enjoy the time you have before baby. There's not really much you can do to induce labor on your own (a lot of the things out there are old wives tales) and induction really isn't bad!

Many first babies like to take their own sweet time. It is easy to tell someone not to stress about it-but the waiting is so very hard and can be full of different emotions. My first baby was induced 10 days after her "due date." I'm sure she would have been later too as my body had shown absolutely no signs of labor. What I took away from the experience was that there is no such thing as a due date and every birthday will be what it will be. Birth is an intensely personal journey and your story will be yours forever. Whenever your little one arrives-whether it is tomorrow or later this week-the wait and work will quickly feel irrelevant the moment you get to see him/her for the first time. I wish you all the best on your journey🙏.

My daughter was a week and a half late. Doctors told me I needed to induce and I asked to wait - I was healthy. Baby was healthy and kicking. I didn’t want to rush her. The day after I went in to get checked, my water broke and I went in for a 21 hour labor. Thing is, I still had to get induced because my water had broken but I was dilated at all. Moral of my story though is that my body and baby knew when it was time, my body just needed a little extra help along the way. If you and baby are healthy you may not need to rush either. But whatever you chose to do, just try not to stress (as hard as that may be) as that may throw your body into a loop too.

Congratulations to you. I am in the same stage as you are. I am due on Monday and I am stressed out. I have heard from many that walking will definitely help to get into labor when the due date is just around the corner. Hope it helps you.

It can happen quickly. My water broke at 10 am with my first, then she was born at 9 that night. My second, I started having contractions at 5 pm then she was born at 4 am the next morning. Things can change in an instant

The idea that there are "changes" is something that moms really want (because we like to know everything and be in control), but they are not always accurate. I am 31w with #5 and I've never been dilated before going into labor, I've never seen my belly drop, I've never noticed losing my mucus plug. I had #2 and #3 spontaneously at 41 weeks and was induced at 42 weeks with #4. Babies don't have calendars, they don't know that they are due. It's really something that we have to realize that we cannot control and be ok with it (or have medical interventions). I know these last few weeks are so hard, but hang in there. Babies come out. You can do this!!

It can definitely happen quickly, but I don’t want you to worry so much about being induced. There are horror stories. But there isn’t a style of birth that doesn’t have a horror story. I’ve had a c-section after normal labor began, my second water broke and eventually labor began on its own, and my third I was 5.5 cm Dilated and not in labor so I was induced since they were worried the baby would come out at home and I am GRoup b strep positive. Because I was induced, and I was aware of how awful painful my contractions are from trying to avoid pain meds in the past, I took the epidural with my pitocin and it was by far my most enjoyable labor. I slept during part of it, got to enjoy pushing and the announcement that it was the daughter we waited for, and was up and running in no time since I didn’t tear. I don’t know how it’ll go for you, but I promise if you go in with only the plan to try to be mentally present and make decisions to protect that, you will be happy with howit goes.

I was late with my first also. I was scheduled to be induced two days before I would have been 42 weeks - and went into labor on my own the very morning of my induction! I was so excited to avoid being induced, but in the end I was in labor for 22 hours and never made it past 2cm. I had a plan to give birth naturally without any medication! But I ended up getting an epidural, pitocin, iv antibiotics, having to take shelter in the bathroom for an hour due to a tornado warning, and finally a c section 🤦🏼‍♀️. Try not to stress too much about what you want to happen. It’ll only make you feel that much more disappointed if things don’t go as planned. Once my baby was born I forgot all about it. And once I had the epidural, being induced didn’t matter. I didn’t feel a thing. Just got to sit around and watch tv.. I tried everything to get my baby to come out on time and he refused to ever come out lol sometimes you just need to let go and let it happen. Your baby will be in your arms soon enough.. one way or another. Good luck!

My due date was the 22. Well I walked around the Zoo for 5 miles on the 19th. The 21 my water broke and I lost my mucus plug all at once at 2:30. Had really terrible back labor and was leaking lots of fluid the whole time. Went to the hospital at 8am. Was dilated at 1cm. Stayed at 1cm until 11:30. They did an ultrasound and baby flipped. So got to sit in labor until 2 for my doctor to get there to then perform the c section to find out she was breach for a LONGGGG TIME. and I am really angry that it wasn’t caught sooner honestly.
