Reply to I'm thinking of getting my 15 month old son off of the boob

I recently night weaned my kid. I started around 12 months he’s now 14 month. I changed his bedtime routine so when he was still nursing for bed we did that first. Then diaper, brush teeth, read a book, and say goodnight. We’ve cut that nursing time out entirely. Then I also cut out night feedings one at a time. Instead I’d give him water and he fought that so hard so I would just hold him tight sometimes he’d take a pacifier until he calmed down and I’d rock him for a few minutes and was able to put him back to bed. Now he nursed first thing in the morning and after his nap. Sometimes he’ll nurse before dinner. We start bedtime around 7/7:30 - we brush teeth change diaper put and pajamas. I read him a story while he stands in his crib and helps turn the pages. The hug and kiss him goodnight lay him down and tuck him in. He falls asleep on his own and sleeps until about 5:30/6 I nurse him then about 5-10 minutes and he goes back to bed for about an hour or 2 and then I nurse him when he wakes up for the day. I wanna say it took about 2 weeks. And it was hard. There was crying from both of us. Sometimes I had to leave the room in order for him to go back to sleep (we’re temporarily sharing a room). I hope this helps. What worked for us may not work for you guys. I took different info from multiple places and then just kinda followed my gut with some trial and error. Cold turkey and crying it out did not work for us haha. I have not been able to totally wean him yet. I can’t get him to drink any type of milk out of a cup. But it’s a start. Again, hope this helps. Good luck momma! You got this ♥️
