Feedings - milk & baby food

Kim

My son has never been a babe that loves to drink milk, breastfed or formula. He’s always fought it and it’s always so hard to get him to feed. He’ll be 8 months at the end of the month and we’ve already been on baby food for months. I’m just wondering if how much formula he should be drinking? Every time I ask my pedi she just says as much as he will take. He’s currently drinking anywhere from 24-30oz a day with baby food 2-3 times a day (2oz of food every time). Sometimes when he eats a lot of baby food he doesn’t want to drink milk. Any parents dealing with this also? My pedi said he should be eating breakfast lunch and dinner just like us once he’s at one year. How often do you give milk at that time? My son doesn’t do any overnight feedings and on a good night he can sleep 12 hours before waking up and wanting a bottle. Maybe I’m trying to look for an eating and feeding schedule now and at one year.

I just asked my Ped yesterday for my 6 month old. She said until 8-9 months, she would drink 28-32 oz a day but around 8-9 months many kids start to self-wean as they eat more food. If he wants to eat, let him eat. She said the minimum my LO should eat if she isn't interested in formula is 20 oz, so I'd say make sure he gets at least that in a day, but if you want to give him more food food, do that.

Ahhh thank you so much. I was thinking that I might be going crazy and making this up cause out of no where he’s just gotten really interested in baby food and would rather eat our food than have a bottle.
