First steps?!

Hi mommies! My little is almost 8 months, and I know some babies start early, some late, but I think my baby WANTS to walk. What age did your babe start moving on their own??

Our daughter was crawling at 6 months but didn’t take her first steps on her own til the day before she turned 10 months. She was pretty content crawling and we had to pretty much make her try walking. Our son just turned 6 months and only wants to walk. He hates when we try to make him crawl, but when we hold him on his feet he walks all over the house. He just doesn’t have the balance yet. But we think he’ll skip crawling all together and walk sooner than she did.

My boy wants to walk, and hates when we put him in crawling positions also! Maybe, he’ll be moving on his own then, too! Thanks!

My son was walking at 11 months! I think it’s different for each child. My daughter is just over 12 months and is still only taking a step or two at a time.

My daughter has some strong legs and started walking with assistance since she was 5.5m (she’s 7m now). I thought she was going to skip the crawling phase altogether but she started to 3 weeks ago and is all over the place. She recently learned how to climb the stairs too. So be prepared if your little is getting anxious to venture on its own. It’s non-stop.

I’m so excited for him to start being more independent, but also very reasonably comfortable with where he’s currently at, as well. Thanks, ladies!
