Formula during the day/ breastmilk at morning and night

Anonymous

I am a full time working mom who is tired of pumping at work. I am considering breastfeeding when I am with my baby ( morning and bedtime feed) and giving formula during the day. Will this affect my supply?

You produce what the baby needs( so I’ve heard and have come to find out) I cut out BF during the day and only feed 1-2 times usually around night whether before bed or after waking and once during night. I’ve noticed boobs aren’t as full as they were and there’s not much leaking sorry if that TMI lol. It happened gradually as he was distracted and couldn’t focus on feedings during the day

I ended up doing that. I still could nurse at nights and morning fine

I started doing this when my baby was 10 months old. I cut out my daytime pumping and breastfeed twice when I’m with her — in the morning when she wakes up and right before bed. The first couple days it was uncomfortable and then my body adjusted. I recommend drinking sage leaf tea to reduce supply during the day while you’re transitioning to this new routine (that’s what my lactation consultant recommended and it helped).

Sara did your LO not wake during the night?? Just curious that’s been our struggle as of lately

She's been sleeping through the night (7:30pm to around 7am) since she was around 3 months old. She's now almost 11 months old and the only times she wakes up in the middle of the night is if she's sick. In addition to breastfeeding her at night I usually also "top off" with some formula to make sure she's had enough to eat.
