Grinding teeth

My 21 month old has recently started to grind his teeth. Has anyone else experience this? Is there anything I can do to get him to stop?

My son did it too... he stopped on his own eventually. Sorry, no suggestions on how to stop it.

Both my kids do this and it drives me nuts. It comes in waves with teething. My two year old did it a lot but has stopped (she has all her teeth in finally). My ten month old just did this for the first time today. I figured it was cause it’s all new to them and it was a sensory thing, but it happened so frequently that I asked my dentist. He said it’s normal as it can help them alleviate some of the pain and they’ll stop on their own and it’s nothing to worry about. Maybe try some teething drops to help? No Orajel though. Even the baby ones (with the picture of the infant) says two in the fine print on the back

My son did this too. It’s usually just a phase and they stop on their own. His dentist wasn’t worried either. His said it’s unlikely that his jaw is strong enough to do any damage. Mention it to his dentist the next time he goes just so they are aware. Try offering him a teething ring or something else to put in his mouth that will occupy him. Otherwise you just have to kind of ignore it.

He’s probably teething. Mine does the same thing when he teeth hurt. So I give him a teether or homemade popsicle.
