Hair loss?

Anonymous

My son is now 4months old and I am all of a sudden starting to loose hair to the point that I am starting to get a bald spot at the front of my hair line. Is this normal or has anyone else had this problem? Or does anybody have any recommendations or an idea to why this may be happening.?

I'm pretty sure it's normal. I started losing my hair when my daughter turned 4 months. It was around my temples I couldn't put my hair in a ponytail and I wore hats more often because it got so bad. It started growing back though arter a couple months. I just waited it out. I tried not to wash my hair everyday either. It seemed to help a bit.

I’m in agreement with Terah. Mine started falling out around the 3-month mark and my friend had a similar experience after her daughter was born. I cut back on washing mine, too; dry shampoo is my friend. It’s slowed down and pretty much evened out now.

Yup. Post-partum shed; I honestly don’t know why more ppl don’t talk about it. 🤔 I had it really bad with both kids and the first time it happened it totally freaked me out. For me it lasted about 3 months before it stopped completely but I started growing back baby hairs before that. Hang in there, it’ll grow back!!

Yep, normal. I already have a big forehead so the loss at the hairline was super upsetting. I’m at 8 months PP and it’s just letting up for me now since 3 months PP.

I was just worried because I’m having huge amounts coming out each time I shower. It’s to the point that it clogs the drain sometimes and it’s just not something I’ve dealt with before.

I always put my hair on the shower wall and put it in the trash can when I was done😅

Yes! I lost quite a bit of hair around the front hairline as well. My other problem was I wore headbands (the ones that go all around your head) all the time too so it broke a lot of the hairs in the front. So when I take the band off, I had all these short strands just sticking straight up. Like a lot. To the point where my MIL asked if I purposely cut my hair like that, as a new style.... It’ll come back and go back to normal. In a few months! But it’ll happen.

It’s normal. I have a 5 month old and I started really losing hair last month. It’ll last a while but then all your baby hair will start growing and then you’ll go through the phase where your hair looks like you stuck your finger in an electric socket 😂

Very normal at this point in time after birth. It’s called postpartum alopecia. Normal hair loss is something like 50-80 strands of hair per day. During PPA it’s around 800!!! Same thing happened to me. I thinned out a lot at my temples and around the crown. My baby is almost 7 months old. I still lose more than is normal, but it’s slowing down and my hair started filling back in not long after I noticed the thin patches. What’s weird is I didn’t have this for my first daughter. It’s shocking for sure. Just keep your normal routine and maybe stimulate your scalp a bit.
