Help?

What did you do when you had an important doctor appointment and had nobody to help you watch your toddler? I have a doctor appointment on Thursday and my husband isn’t sure if he’ll be off on time to watch our 17 month old. This appointment is important and I’ve been waiting 2 weeks to be seen. I hate to bring her with me because I know it will be impossible even if she’s in a stroller and nobody can seem to help me. Do I just take her with me or reschedule the appointment?

Turn a movie/YouTube on your phone and let her be distracted with that during your appointment. (Make sure to turn on guided access so your phone locks and she doesn’t get out of the app.) I know most ppl that this is a bad tactic.... but if you’re desperate, it works.

I just take mine with me and sometimes the nurse can help entertain them.

I’m not against the phone. She loves it, especially when I’m doing something lol. Should I bring the stroller and just let her have the phone? The dr won’t get mad?

Doctors are pretty understanding when it comes to bringing baby with you, especially when you’ve got no one to help take care of them! I am in the same boat- my husband works 3.5 hours away and I have drs appointments, I just pack my little boy up and away we go! Drs totally understand!!!

Totally bring her with you and maybe your hubby can meet you at the office and grab her from there.

Every moment spent with you is special to them. So make it the best experience possible. But if you need to privacy then use your local YMCA, they usually have a two watch for your child for emergencies...

If I can get a sitter then awesome my daughter gets to play while I got to the Dr. If I can’t then she gets to tag along. I don’t see the big deal! I mean it would be different if you were going to a salon to get your hair done for 4 hours but I think taking her with you is totally okay!

I take mine with me and just confine him in the stroller. It’s not ideal, but you’ve got to do what you’ve got to do! Doctors will totally get that it’s unavoidable......most of them have kids of their own. 🤷‍♀️

I take my 9 month old to all my appts, the nurses and doctors don’t mind at all.

Yup! I take the 7, 6, and 3 y.o. here with me. I ask the staff to come get us outside when it's time 4 my appointment so I don't have them waiting around sick people. Once in the office, I've found making balloons out of exam gloves keeps everyone occupied.

I couldn’t take my step daughter with me to my appointment when I was pregnant so I had to drive her to grandma house like almost 2 hours away then drive back to my appointment. It’s hard when you don’t know people in your city.

    Take her of course

Someone suggested the YMCA, but with our YMCA you can only use the Child Watch if you will be at the gym—you can’t leave the premises. There are, however, drop-in daycare places in my city in case you have them where you are too.

I am a stay at home mom and I don’t have any family around me or a trusted babysitter I take my son with my everywhere, I keep a few toys in the car and of course my phone like everybody said! The only time my husband goes with me is if I have to get an ultrasound, X-ray or something that I can’t have my son with me in

I’m with Monda here. You gotta do what you gotta do and normally the doctors are very understanding. My pediatrician even always making sure that I’m doing great since she knows that i’m doing it all by myself.

Thanks everyone! My husband got off early and was able to go with me, but the nurse had said she has toys and a door that shuts. Lol so that made me feel better for the future if he can’t make it!
