Help! My 3 year old potty training

I have a 3 year old who is amazing at peeing in the toilet and goes almost every single time but she will not go poop in the toilet! We have "praised" her and disciplined her and everything! We don't know what else to do!! Anyone else have these problems?

Hello Whitney, we are having the same problem with my son, we asked him why doesn’t he poop in the toilet and he said because there are spiders and snakes in there. I was laughing so hard. Then I walked him to the toilet and showed him that there are not spiders or snakes in there. But he still holds his poop until we put a diaper at night for bed. Some times I sit him on the toilet and and sit there with him for about 30 mins waiting to see if he would poop but he won’t. I know you are asking for some tips and I didn’t give you any. Hopefully they can learn soon how to poop in the toilet.

Ariel that's crazy at least your son has a response as to why my daughter just acts like it's no big deal! And you're okay but I get it!! Mine wears a pullup and will pop right in front of us and then say "mom I pooped"

Get rid of the pull up. She will go eventually. If /when she does it outside of the toilet, she’ll need to clean it up. This is a mistake that’s only repeated a handful of times.

I just went threw this and finally got him to go number 2 in the potty. What I did was watch him when he was ready to poop in his pull up and i would rush him and sit him on the potty. He wouldn’t go so later on when he wanted to poop I would do it again and it’s really a back and forth thing and finally he got tired of holding it and went. After a while they get tired of holding their poop and see that it’s ok to go to the potty .

Mine did the same thing and I thought it would never end...it does though is the good news. They do it on their own time.

I also told her there were no more pull ups we were all out and there’s no money to buy anymore 😅 so that may have helped?! I don’t know I but I do know they will do it and it’s on their own time you cannot force them.

So my son won’t poop on the toilet either. He has never pooped while sitting or squatting— he poops only while standing. But I notice he does sometimes hide to go poop. So yesterday, I decided to put his potty in the closet (a place he likes to poop) and lo and behold, he went right away! Standing still, but I helped bend him slightly to poop. He has been pooping in the closet now (day 3) and actually sat down today! He still stands up too early, so I have to be extra watchful of him. Maybe try putting the potty in a place your kiddo tends to poop? I mean idk if your kid hides to poop, but mine did occasionally. I imagine they have a hard time going on the toilet because it feels unnatural when they’ve been doing it a certain way for so long. I remember being in bed rest after giving birth and being told to poop in bed (there was a pan under) and I just could not! My body would not let me even though I tried to...

This is my daughter. She will pee on the toilet but not poop. She will be 4 in June. She doesn’t care, she will poop in her diaper and then say I have poo butt. There’s been 2 times she has voluntarily gone to the bathroom and actually pooped on her own. I am hoping she will just one day do it. Good luck!
