I’m looking to revamp my 5 year old’s bedtime routine. Would love to hear what works best for you! 🙏🏼

Here’s my 5yo’s routine if it’s helpful. He’s in kindergarten so he is often pretty wiped out on school nights. On weekends we still try to follow the routine though so he has a consistent schedule. - out of school at 5pm, home by 6pm - 6-7pm dinner and homework if he has any - 7-7:30pm bath or play time - 7:30-8pm brush teeth, get in PJs, listen to stories - 8pm lights out We just recently stopped sitting with him until he falls asleep. He was getting up a lot at first but we resolved that by giving him a night light and telling him he can read or talk to his stuffies if he feels lonely. So far it’s working! 🤞🏻

Thank you! I love the idea of having him read or talk to his stuffies. Is there anything else that helps him fall asleep by himself? Music? Audio books?

He has some wind-up music boxes next to his bed that he uses sometimes. Other than that, I think he mostly just fidgets/plays a little, gets bored and eventually sleeps. The less there is to entertain him the better. He does occasionally get up for a hug or want to talk to us... we just give a quick hug and steer him back to bed. After a couple of times he got the picture that there was nothing exciting happening without him!
