Limping

Anonymous

Hi panicking mom here! My 17 month old started limping out of the blue yesterday afternoon... no signs of pain! I took him to the doctor who suggested to have an X-ray... those results should be in by tomorrow. Has anyone gone through this? I’m a nervous wreck that he’s limping with no obvious pain anywhere

He could be having growing pains. Our oldest often complains of leg pain in their knees but hasn’t fallen or injured them in weeks. It’ll usually come in spurts too. Concentrated for a few days a couple months a part. I think you did the right thing though.

Could he be imitating someone in the family or circle of friends? One of my cousins did this when they were little - his father had a limp from an old injury. They took him to a bunch of doctors & no one could figure it out. Finally he said to his mom, “I can walk like daddy now!”

Turned out to be a fracture! The X-ray techs missed it, but orthopedic saw it right away!
