LO not walking.

My LO is 17m and not walking. He cant stand on his own except he holds on to something, though he can walk about holding on to something. Any cause for alarm?

What does his pediatrician think? They’ll be the best to assess if there’s anything to worry about. Having said that, my grad school advisors son didn’t walk independently until he was almost 3 years old. He was valedictorian of his high school class and was also a track and field outstanding athlete. He went to college on a full academic scholarship. Soooo, no. As long as your pediatrician is not concerned I would try not to be either (although I know it’s impossible for us parents not to worry!!).

I’d also call pediatrician and ask. They might recommend some PT to help or might not

Ask your pediatrician for OT and PT evaluation referral.

I watch a little one who did the same thing he all of a sudden just let go of the furniture one day and started walking on his own. Some just take a little longer than others. But asking your pediatrician doesn't hurt.

My son didn't walk until he was 18 months. I thought it was never going to happen. Its hard but be patient. And of course see your pediatrician.
