Motion Sickness Remedies

My LO is 17 months and seems to have developed motion sickness. In the last few weeks, she has thrown up 3 times in the car. Previous to this, she had thrown up once in the car her whole life. Any remedies that don't include drugs? TIA!!

A mirror? I read a mom say the only thing that helped was flipping forward facing :( I know of course you may be hesitant due to her age/size though

She has a mirror. I know forward facing will help, but I'm not going to do that yet

Some people find ginger helps settle the tummy. You could try some ginger tea, ginger ale, or ginger snap cookies to see if it helps (30 minutes prior to the car ride). Also, is she looking up or does she have an electronic device she looks down at? I’ll point out the things we’re passing to make sure my child is looking out the window and engaged.

Has she eaten before getting in the car? If yes, try not feeding her right before driving. If no, try giving her a little something bland beforehand. Also if she is eating before this happens take note of what she is eating? Is it new food? Perhaps she has a new allergy? My son has FPIES and it was hard to figure out because several times he had reactions to peanuts, he threw up in the car and I thought it was motion sickness.

@Vicki it is definitely motion sickness. It happens mainly in her dad's car (3 out of 4 occurrences) and when she is looking out the side window on windy roads. The one time it happened in my car, I think it was a combo of the motion and a cough. I got her the wristbands and some topical oils that are supposed to calm the stomach. We will see how that works
