My 10mo baby girl suddenly is not interested in eating solids.. what to do??

These past few months she was nicely eating solids: fruits, veggies everything... from a few weeks suddenly she is not interested in eating solids.. she hardly eats, only about once a day and the rest of the time she drinks my milk.. she has no teeth. Up until now she was super active.. I’m scared to force her to eat, so do I just leave it if she is not eating well.. is this normal?? What should i do?? Will she start eating after sometime??

She may be teething, mine gets weird about eating when he is working on teeth (even as a toddler) which is understandable. Is she sleeping ok? Make sure she gets all the milk she wants, and offer purees if you are normally doing small chunks of food. I can't remember if it is appropriate to give pain relievers at that age, but if it is, you may want to try a dose and see if she'll eat after they have time to kick in. Also, you could try ruling out other issues like an asymptomatic ear infection (my son has also had those). Unfortunately a lot of very common issues in this age group have similar symptoms so it is tough. All else fails, call your pediatrician, they field issues like these all the time.

Is she lethargic? You said she WAS super active, is she not anymore? I didn't think teething goes on for WEEKS at a time. You also didn't say what kind of solids you are offering. If it is only purees she may just be ready to move on to soft chunks or things she can knaw on. My son is 11 months and isn't that interested in purees anymore but loves everything else, especially Blu berries! You could try some frozen peas, if it's teething they may help soothe.

So whenever my daughter teeth’s she prefers milk and smoothies, even as a baby when she was teething she wanted only milk. So that could be what’s going on. The other possibility is she may be ready for regular food. This is only if you’re giving her primarily puréed foods. Around that age they usually start rejecting it and want to eat whatever you are eating instead.

Hi Mini. My 10 months old baby girl is very active and has done the same, as your baby. Have only breastfeeded her, not a happy camper on formula and bottles. Has two tooths and is teething. I was also concerned about, baby not showing any interest in puréed food anymore. Lately, she eats small pieces of food, veggies, fruit, meats that I smash with my finger before I feed her. Occasionally she will eat puréed food. Baby is not willing to grab the food herself yet, but rather prefers to be fed. Did mentioned my concern to the pediatrician. Said that breastmilk still is, the main source of nutrition for baby. As long as baby keeps growing and is healthy, is not a concern at this point. Because some babies might not be ready to solid food. But is recommended to introduce babies to foods, before they are 12-18 months so that, it won’t be too difficult for babies to get adapted to different foods and flavors. Hope this helps. Keep up the great work you are doing. Blessings.

Hi Mini. Yes, baby still not eating much. Did noticed as someone mentioned, on the days she is drooling due to teething, she really doesn’t eat at all. Other days she is able to eat some, either puree or small bites. When she really eats puréed food, she can it 1/4 cup of food. Do try to feed her on breakfast, lunch and dinner, and snack times. I was making the mistake of feeding just the fruits and veggies she liked the most. But honestly, that made her not interested in other foods as well. A friend of mine recommended me the gerber yogurt for babies and my baby liked them. So occasionally will give her that. Because I have tried different brands of snacks for babies, cookies, you name it, but she’s not into them yet, rarely she will eat yogurt melts. We just need to continue trying until our babies are ready for new foods, cause sometimes that’s all what it is. They are not ready to transition to new foods.

Hi Mini. Yes, is normal for babies to act like this. As long as baby is healthy growing, and gaining weight there’s nothing to worry about. Babies just need to adjust to different foods and textures. When they feel ready, they will do so. We need to keep trying, eventually our babies will be ready to discover new foods. 😊. Hope your baby, is healthy, gaining weight and growing.💕

Hi Mini. Happy to know your baby is healthy and gaining weight. Wanted to let you know that, my baby started to eat again. She’s not drooling, so gums are good for now to chew, ☺️ For sure this cycle will continue until all teething is over.
