My 15 month old boy cries like no tomorrow when I try to brush his 6 new front teeth. Any tricks?

FYI, he also hates it when I try to wipe his face and his hands 😖

My daughter has 8 front teeth and she isn’t much for “brushing” either. We try to show her when we brush and maybe show some YouTube cartoon videos of kids brushing teeth. It’s a struggle

I used to use the natural tooth numbing gel (I think it was from Nuby) on my baby's teeth a minute or two before I brushed them when we first started. It really helped.

My son is like yours - doesn’t like anyone getting near his face. The hand thing too... but he got over it. If they have a favorite show.. see if there’s an episode about dentists/cleaning teeth. My son loves bubble guppies and they had an episode about dentists which kind of helped. We struggled a lot with brushing teeth for a while.. and for a couple of months it was me pinning him down and brushing his teeth while singing. I sang the paw patrol theme song twice and some times it helped because he would try to sing along. But also he knew that I only sang it twice and then he’s done. As he got older and I realized how much he loved dinosaurs.. I started to tell him that we had to brush his teeth twice a day so that his teeth would be sharp and shiny like a dinosaur. So now he whines and complains but I don’t have to pin him down to brush his teeth. And when the dinosaur thing doesn’t work, I’ll alternate and say that paw patrol or bubble guppies called to tell me to brush his teeth.

Oh and we started using training toothpaste and a bristle brush over a banana silicone brush and it helped. Also we would let him brush our teeth.

We had to hold the arms like when the child is getting a shot or the ears pierced. After a while they would want to brush on their own without the fighting.
