Some babies crawl later than others so I wouldn't worry but if he's not crawling by 9 months you should bring it up at the 9 month checkup with his pediatrician. You can try putting an object he likes just out of reach while he's on his tummy. Also try getting on your tummy while he's on his and facing him to keep him entertained while he's there. The more tummy time the better for promoting crawling. Just keep at it!!

I am having the same issue with my 7 month old. He rolls and pivots to get where ever he want to go. We do lots of tummy time and toys to entice him. I do start to wonder is there a specific trick to use that everyone else does that I just don't know about? Am I doing something wrong?

Mine was like that too until last week. He's 8.5 months and decided one day it was time to move. (The pacifier was far away and he just had to have it) as Long as he can roll over by now you're good.

Mine's not crawling either! She prefers to roll everywhere and kind of wiggle around. Our doctor said not all babies crawl, and to not be too concerned.

Not all babies crawl. They might be happy with whatever way they move. Sometimes it seem they get the idea, when they see other babies crawl.

Your state probably has a "birth to 3" or "early intervention" program. Call your pediatrician's office and ask. The program will evaluate your child. If she qualifies, they will send a physical therapist to your home (usually once a week, sometimes more or less frequently). This is all funded by taxes and is "free" to you. I took the approach that either way, it would be good news! "She is fine, no free services for you." Or "she needs help, free physical therapy!" We ended up qualifying for physical and speech therapy. It's been wonderful, and I highly recommend it!

My daughter was born 5 wks early n we had tile floor. It wasnt till 11 months and we got carpet that she began to crawl. Many things could be a factor without him needing an evaluation or PT

Unless you suspect other developmental issues, I wouldn't worry too much. One of my daughters never crawled, but started walking at 10 months! Today, she is a completely normal, intelligent 14 year old.

My son is 10 months and still hasn't crawled either but he does drag him self back and sideways. But he's excellent on the walker and when I walk with him holding his arms he takes several steps. He might just skip crawling and go straight to walking.

My 7.5 month old doesn't crawl as well. She "slugs" though. From what I read, some babies go straight from "slugging" to walking. I'm going to just let her do things at her own pace.
