I keep telling him that's not realistic but I don't want to crush his dreams. What should I do or say?
Nothing, just let him have this dream. It will either come true or he’ll grow out of it. I was positive I was going to be a waitress on skates for like two years (don’t ask me why I have no idea 😂) but then you move on to new interests.
You could always help him with it
My son tells everyone he’s a professional YouTuber I just go with it. I don’t think life career decisions need to be made right this second.
Mine wants to be a dinosaur thats a thing 😂
Honestly, over 60% of our kids’ jobs are not even invented with. You can harness energy and teach him to fulfill his aspirations
Just let it play out. My son changes what he wants to be all the time, beginning of the year he wanted to be a police man, mid year he wanted to be an author now a video game designer. Lol
Harness the energy! I would support him (ie helping him with shooting, editing, thinking about content ideas, etc) but make sure he’s still doing well at other areas such as school, social activists and sports.
A lot of the skills used in making and editing videos for YouTube are translatable to many modern media oriented jobs, let this hobby be a stepping stone into a bigger, more sustainable world of media creation/advertisement/videography of various types!
