My son is 8 weeks old and up until now have been EBF. We are now giving him one bottle a day because I have to go back to work in January. It’s breaking my heart to hear and watch him struggle to take a bottle. He hates it. I would do just about anything to stay home with him.

You are doing the right thing. Let him try at the bottle once or twice a day. And of course it breaks your heart, you are his Mama!

He will survive. I'm guessing you've tried different nipple styles? The LATCH bottle is supposed to imitate the breast the closest.

I know how youre feeling, I went back to work two weeks ago and even though Im only part time its so hard. Ive had luck w the Latch bottle too. My daughter took to it right away. I also gave her a bottle a day leading up to when I went back. Good luck!!

The LC we saw recommended using Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature or Dr Brown's slow flow nipples bc they're the closest to breastfeeding.

My 4 mo daughter still doesn’t doesn’t love the bottle, but the ONLY one she’ll take is the Lansinoh mOmma.

My husband tried various bottles to see which one our two month old preferred... he hated the Dr Browns and Avent but seemed slightly less upset with the Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature, so we stocked up on those and gave him one bottle every single day. DH and our mothers had the best success when I was out of the house, although occasionally I would be in a totally different room so that he wouldn’t be distracted. I’ve probably only given him one or two bottles myself, but he and my husband have gotten a routine down where he will drink the bottle in his rock n play or car seat. It helped the two of them bond as DS was learning how to take a bottle and although I’m home most of the week, I’ve left him for as long as 12 hours knowing he’s doing great. Good luck!

Ok well I just gotta say it. If you feel passionately about staying home see if you can make it work. Or just postpone returning. There will always be an opportunity to work, but your baby is only a baby for so long. I know someone will give me a hard time about this but I had to put it out there I'm a sahm and we're broke as a joke, but I'd never give up the experiences I've had with my children

Lansinoh momma!!! The nipples will fit the Joovy boob, MAM, and Philips Avent.

Try different positions. Sometimes they like it if you try to immidate the breastfeeding situation as close as possible. But some babies prefer to be on the lap facing the person feeding, or laying flat on the ground, or propped up with a nursing pillow, in the stroller, while walking around, while outside the house, in the rock'n'play,... fed by you, or anybody but you,...

Latch bottles work really well! Going back to work is always tough and in all honesty its tough for the first month or so but after you get back into the swing of things it gets way easier!

Try several different bottles. He may just not like the shape or speed of that nipple. He will get used to it

Fist week back has been hard but ok over all. I pump twice a day and I FaceTime my little angel each time. That makes it a little easier.

We went with the patch bottles. He seemed to like those the best.
