NICU mama

I had my second baby in the same year that i had my first born. My son decided to come really early I had him at 23 weeks. He is in the NICU and I’m praying he makes it out alive. He is truly a fighter tho and I truly admire my son for being such a strong guy during the hardest part of his life right now so mama also has to be strong for my little guy. Anyone else in this situation as well ?

My son was in the NICU when he was born due to difficulties during labor and I know what you must be going through. But I know that mama's what do all they can for their little ones so I pray for your continuewd strength and perseverance. And lots of love to you and your family in this trying time.

I’m sorry to hear about your baby’s NICU stay. Four years ago my son was born at 28 weeks due to partial placental abruption. He stayed there for 91 days, the hardest thing we’ve endured. The best advice I can give you is to make sure you’re taking care of yourself. The doctors and nurses are caring for your baby. Get rest, don’t spend all your time at the hospital, run your errands. Try to do your “normal” routines between hospital visits. It’ll all pass sooner than it feels. Much love to your family.

Even though my younger son wasn’t born nearly as early, I can empathize with you as a fellow preemie/NICU mom. Yes, it will likely be one of the toughest experiences you will ever have in life, and most likely a crazy, emotional rollercoaster where things change by the hour. Plenty of tears and disappointment but also encouragement and hope. Remember to take care of yourself, whatever that might entail. It’ll be hard but you need to put your mental and emotional health first and foremost. Also, I do know someone who had a baby girl sometime between 23 - 25 weeks, can’t remember exactly which.. she was less than a pound at birth. Itty bitty little thing but you know what, she’s off to kindergarten now and I’m telling you, today you wouldn’t even be able to tell. Also, did you know that Albert Einstein was a preemie? Think I saw that somewhere... 😛 You’re a tough cookie mama, and so is your baby boy. It might be a long road ahead but you WILL be okay.

My 27 week niece is turning 10 years old this year! She is a little on the small side but beyond that just fine. Yes there were a hard first 3 years. I live with my brother and took care of my niece and nephew for a while. at a little over a year she was Markef not to thrive and was on oxygen and had to have a Mickey button installed. So I was side tube feeding my niece. but days kept going forward and things got stronger she got stronger and she's now 10 years old!
