Potty training and day care

I’ve been thinking about starting potty training and I know day cares always support and try to help! But I’m worried that if I take a 3/4 day weekend to really try and nail it in, will it all go down hill when he gets to daycare? They have 10 other kids to worry about, not just my sons pee schedule. What was your experience? They have those little (but real) potties in his classroom, should I try and have him use the real potty at home then so he isn’t confused between a fake plastic potty? Or am I thinking too much into it lol #momprobs

Talk to them about their procedures. How often do they take him? Will they be on board with not using pull ups? Do they reward? Try and train him with those things in mind, if they will only take him once an hour, then try to train him to go once an hour at home. And I highly recommend after the 1st day or 2 to take him on short trips and get him used to regular toilets. Or u can probably get the daycare to start showing him the bathroom to help get comfortable. Everything will be an experiment until you find out what your kids will put up with 😆

My daughter is 21 months. She’s 100% potty trained at home while awake. In daycare she has to wear a diaper till she transitions to her next room where she will be able to wear a pull up or diaper or underwear or whatever. So at school she’s still really good about telling her teachers she has to pee or poop. She’s about 80% trained there even with the diaper. Yesterday I picked her up from daycare, she was in a diaper and hadn’t gone potty for 1.5 hours. I took her to the kids toilets in the room, her diaper was dry and she went on the toilet...then on the way home I realized I had to stop at the store. She was still in a diaper and told me she had to pee. I took her and she went again and her diaper was still dry. I’m not sure if she just “gets” it or what, but so far (knock on wood) this has been the easiest milestone!! Good luck. I suggest talk to your daycare teachers and gauge expectations based on what they can do for you.

Ohh and my daughter uses all types of toilet, potty chair, toilet with insert, etc. the only thing she gets really sketched out by are dark/damp/icky public bathrooms (can’t blame her). Based on recommendations here on Winnie I got her the oxo travel potty system for the car and she used that when we are out and about as well.
