Potty training help!

My three year old boy does great during the day but I’m at a loss for nap and bedtime. Some days he wakes up dry from both other days he is soaked. I limit liquids but I’m just not sure what else I should be doing?! During the day he can hold his pee for like 6 hours. His pedi told me that if he isn’t using the potty every 2-3 hours that when he is sleeping his muscles just kind of let go, I thought if he could hold it that long that nighttime would have been easier. Ughhh 🤷🏼‍♀️

Have you tried lightly waking him half way through the night and having him try?

I did try twice but he stayed up for a bit. I can try and start that again to see if that helps. He’s like me though, once I wake up in the middle of the night I’m up for a couple of hours 😑

I’m totally the same way!!! What about keeping a little potty in his room? And reminding and reminding and reminding here’s your potty please use it if you need to at night

Might have to get a potty for him. He typically uses the big potty but thanks that’s a good idea!

My son and I are both the same way that once we wake up in the middle of the night, we are awake for hours. So I didn’t even bother doing night training. He’s luckily dry for most of his naps. We just put a diaper on for when he sleeps. We call them his sleep diapers and he gets it. When he wakes up he asks to take them off. Sleep is just too precious. And I think I read somewhere that the only way for them to stay dry at night at this age is to wake them in the middle of the night 1-2 times. They might not even wake up themselves to go if they need to.

Don’t put the pressure on your or him it will naturally happen on their sleep he is too young to stress it !

He’s only three. That’s young to be night trained. He might not be ready

B & Jackie- that’s what I think sometimes. Ugh I’m just stressing out I guess and maybe he’s not ready yet and it will just happen naturally. Thanks

My daughter is three she was potty trained at two but has worn pull ups this entire year because one to two nights a week she wakes up wet and nothing is done differently on those day she just isn’t ready yet my 5 year old has never had one accident or ever peed at night each kid is different and there is never any reason to rush ..... of course buying the dam things is a pain but it’s nothing to stress about
