Potty training help

B

On day 2 of pantsless potty training my daughter. First day she pooped on the potty in the morning, and then peed on the floor once (I moved her to the potty during, just like the book says). Then she didn’t pee the rest of the day, even while asleep. The day ended with her hysterically sobbing, standing in the bath asking for a diaper, until she peed. Today, no diaper again. And she didn’t pee for 10 hours. She keeps asking for a diaper, and will sit on the potty a ton, but won’t let go. Any advice? How can we make this click if the little camel won’t pee! We have one more day home with her tomorrow.

Have you tried putting her hand in water when she sits? Or pouring it over her privates while she sits? My son is also a camel, it took him a few days get the hang of learning how to try and release.

Pouring it is a great idea. We did feet in water today and it didn’t help. But she did walk herself to the potty and pee once. So that’s a victory. She def knows she has to go, just won’t release. Thanks!

Have you increased liquids (depending on your toddler’s age)? If your kid is over 2, the Oh Crap Method suggests increasing liquids to provide more opportunities to use the potty. But you may have a camel regardless.... which ultimately is preferable to the kid with a pea sized bladder.

Yeah. We tried increasing (even made our own juice) but she wasn’t having it. I think we are going to pause and try again in a month. There’s no rush and she’s miserable.

We did stickers with a chart by her potty and m&m s.
