Potty training in carpet

Anonymous

How do I potty train my 3 year old son in a carpeted apartment? I want to let him run naked but I'm scared of the carpets smelling like pee and they are white-ish 😫 please help!

I’d section an area off with something like a play yard, lay towels down, and have his potty out where ever he is.

We put down a tarp, he missed it every time 😆

We covered the floor with towels for day 1. Our daughter has peed on the carpet a couple of times, but as long as it's not the first pee of the morning it's pretty diluted.

Puppy pee pads. Tape them to the carpet.

I’m pretty sure I asked my son every hour if he had to pee, we never had any issues with him peeing outside the bathroom except small nighttime accidents in bed. As long as they know peeing is for in the toilet only they will get it. I also found that cute kiddie toilets are only toys for kids and they don’t take them seriously. Take it or leave it, I hope something helps. Good luck!

Every kid is different. Some always try to make it to the potty. Some just don’t care. Some get so involved that they don’t even know they have to pee. You’ll figure out over time what kind of kid you have and adjust because setting them up for success isn’t about you. It’s about them.

I filled our living room (same play area) with dog pee pads including the sofa. Would also set aside extra if he wants to play somewhere else and stay for a bit
