Preschool Jitters?

My almost 3yo just started preschool; the first few days she didn’t look twice before running off to play, now she “doesn’t want to go to school”?! It’s really only been a week but I’m thinking this is going to be an ongoing struggle since she’s been so used to hanging out with the grandparents.

My son went through a very similar thing! He was fine at first, and even asked to go back on his first day, then his second week he started crying, clinging to me, etc. I would literally have to have the staff hold onto him so I could leave. When I would pick him up he would say he had fun and he liked it there but he would say he was sad because he wanted to be with me (super heartbreaking). But also good to know that he actually did like it there. I would assure him I missed him too, but we all have our responsibilities... after about 2 months (!!!) he just stopped crying. I’m not sure if it was developmental or if he just started to realize I’d be back everyday or what... But it was a REALLY hard 2 months but I’m so glad we’re on the other side and happy that he still really likes his school. .
