Sick 20 month old won’t eat

My 20 month old has a fever, is congested, coughing and has low energy all around. She refuses to eat and only wants to nurse. I don’t know what to offer her or what to do, today she’s only ate a couple of slices of cheddar cheese and a piece of bread. ant advice?

No worries just nurse her, my kids never want to eat when they are sick either, just make sure she is hydrated. Sick kids are the worst❤️

Poor sick baby. I would just keep doing what you’re doing, we no longer nurse (her decision, not mine!😭) But when my toddler isn’t feeling well all she wants is milk and water, too. If she likes cool things you can try pedialite pops. Just count the wet diapers and make sure she’s staying hydrated. Good luck to mama and baby!!

Ummmm - I would call your pediatrician. Especially this time of year - those are all signs that an infection could be brewing.

I did, I was basically told it’s a virus and I have to let it run it’s course; and to bring her in if the fever persists after 72 hours. I told him she’s not eating and he said it’s normal but to keep an eye on wet diapers :(. She’s doing a little better today, no fever and eating a little more but not 100%.

I am sorry to hear that. Do not really make her eat if she does not want to. If she is nursing, offer breast as often as you can. Maybe smoothies if she would take them loaded with some honey, veggies, fruit. Honey is sweet that will help her to get some energy and also sweetens the healthy stuff in the smoothie. Just make sure she drinks. Hope she feels better soon
