At what age should I introduce fine ground meats? My son is going to be 7 months.
Unless otherwise advised by your pediatrician, you can try now...the jars of baby meat are super gross, but you can make things like beef or chicken stew and feed it to your son, also ground beef or turkey, or seafood (salmon, low mercury fish and shellfish, etc)....stuff like that. Good luck!!
Julie: Thanks! I know I’ve seen the jars and they look super gross. I personally don’t eat meat not because I’m a vegetarian or vegan, I just can’t bring myself to eat it. I want my son to try it and he needs it for whatever nutrients it could give him.
Yes I agree with Julie! Stews are perfect because the meat gets soft and there’s tons of flavor
Well it’s certainly possible to grow and thrive without meat, I would discuss with your pediatrician...if you don’t eat meat yourself but are still getting plenty of fats, proteins, iron, and other nutrients that meat offers through your own vegetarian diet then there’s really no reason you need to go out of your way to feed your son meat (in my opinion). You can just offer softer, smaller bite size versions of whatever you eat.
My daughter is 18 months and we offer meat whenever we are eating meat but she seems to not be that into it anymore (unless it’s bacon, lol).
I’m vegetarian but I want my daughter to at least eat chicken. It’s hard to get all ur protein and B vitamins; especially if you a picky vegetarian like me. It’s easier to get some nutrients from meat.
Oh to answer ur post we waited until after 9 months to introduce meats. So now she eats chicken for now when her dad eats it.
I intelroduced chicken at like 10m then groumd meats at a year but it has to be pretty small portions because its tougher and it took her a while to actually like it and eat it (she loves bbq chicken tho!) lol
My daughter has been eating meats since 6 months.
