Starting sippy cups

...how did you go about introducing a sippy cup? Trying to figure this out...my daughter is getting there with self-feeding a bottle but isn’t quiiiite there. She can hold it extremely well the whole time but towards the end when you actually have to tip it is the struggle, so a sippy cup at 7mo seems early to me! Who knows! I was told at 6mo you can start but I haven’t attempted yet...she’s been doing solids since 4mo

I held up his sippy to his mouth for a while, until he could hold it himself. I just put it in his mouth lol to be honest, he didn’t figure it out for like a week. I’d just put it in his mouth like 3-4 times during meals in his high chair. Sometimes I’d pretend to drink out of it all dramatically. Just like everything else, they’ll get the hang of it. I’d recommend using a soft spout vs the hard plastic! Good luck :)

Just go straight to a straw cup! I started my daughter on one at 6 months old and now when we go out to eat it’s so easy. You can watch a YouTube video on how to teach. It took us only a few tries.

The 360 cups are awesome as well!

We do a straw cup or a 360 cup. They adapted very well to those. Plus from what I’ve been told, they are better for mouth development and speech, where as sippy cups are basically the same principle as a bottle. They grow too fast!

I second that! Straw or 360 cups are amazing! My lo struggled with regular spout sippy cups but does amazing with the straw or 360!

I got my son the straw cup with the weighted straw, so no matter how he holds it the can always drink from it. Once he got that down we moved to the 360.
