Starting solid

Anonymous

My son is EBF,I feel like my milk might not be enough for him anymore,he is waking up more to feed during the night. He is 4 months,I have been thinking to start him on some solid food. I know some pediatricians recommended to wait until 6 months. When did you start solids? Did you notice a difference in sleep after ?

Are you sharing a room with him? My daughter, 9mos, used to wake up every 1-2 hours in the night to nurse because we shared a room. About a month ago I switched her from my room to her sisters room and now she wakes up only once. He could also be going through a sleep regression, where he will wake up a lot no matter what. I started my now 2 year old on solids one week before 6 months, didn’t notice a difference with her sleep at all. Started my now 9 month old on solids at 5 months 1 week, but she was HUNGRY! My 2 daughters are totally different from each other, like most kids are.

Thank you Kieli for your input,he does share room with me,I have been thinking to switch him to a seperate room but he started waking up every two hours to feed and I can't keep going back and forth to feed him.He started sleeping a stretch of 6 hours when he turned 2 months and it has been couple of weeks that has been really bad,you are right it might be a sleep regression or a growth spurt. I have been thinking of sleep training but I'm not sure if it's too early

4 months is a typical sleep regression. it's a phase and should pass soon. And no, solids has never helped any of my babies sleep more

Started around the 4 month mark. My son has cereal for lunch and I make him food for dinner. He gets a combo of breastmilk and formula outside of food. He is now 7months old
