Switching to milk!

Does anyone know any good resource for switching from formula to cows milk? I am wondering if there is a gradual and gentle approach. Also, any resources to wean from the bottle? Thank you all! :)

I just switched my 1 year old from formula to whole milk and he loved it from the start. 😊

When I weaned my son from the bottle, I chose to go with those 360 cups. I had to demonstrate to him how to use it but he caught on pretty quick.

My ped suggested replacing formula with whole milk 2 oz at a time. Then gradually progressing til you’re doing all whole milk. We did 6 oz formula 2 oz milk for a few days then 4 oz formula 4 oz milk when he didn’t show any adverse reactions. He did great!

I would just try straight whole milk to see if your child enjoys it right from the start. If not... then the gentle/gradual approach would be to mix the formula and whole milk like Erika suggested - gradually changing the proportions so that eventually you are just on whole milk. My son is very against change so we had to do the gradual approach but stuck to a bottle. Once he was ok with 100% whole milk then we stuck with that for a month before working on getting him off the bottle. We had to get him a special milk sippy cup for that.. can’t drink milk from the same sippy cup type as his water 🙄

We did a test to see how he reacted to it neat but he wasn't too into it even though he liked it but more like I'll have a little bit here and there. Do we decided to do it gradually. We just replaced 1-2 ounces at a time until it was pretty much all whole milk. Now that he's eating more solids we started diluting the milk with water to gently get him off of the bottle as a meal habit. Plus it keeps him hydrated and avoids potential constipation. Good luck on whatever you choose to do😉

Thank you all! I love both approaches. I will see if he likes the milk before going to the gradual approach.

We gave goat milk first (it is easy to digest), then added cow milk into cereal and finally switched. Took about 2 months in total.

My doctor just told us to switch fully to milk, if it bugged her I could go half and half. She never noticed.

Milk is unnecessary for good health, and actually causes a lot of health problems layer in life. Do your child a favor and just offer water.
