This was our favorite English museum so far! We started right at opening time (10a) and went straight to the Learning Centre to pick up an adventure backpack. The backpack had a booklet, map, and little mini bags, each one with objects and activities for the kids. We blew through 2 hours SO fast. Adults were able to take turns perusing the exhibits while the other adult walked the kids through activities. Backpacks are arranged by age -- there is one for 5 and under, and several for older age ranges. We enjoyed the "Time Traveler" bag, but the Architecture bag was a bust. I would recommend choosing a bag that corresponds to an area that the adults in your group want to spend a lot of time in. There is also a Close Discovery Area (Gallery 122b) that we stumbled across by accident, which was the perfect hands-on kid-friendly break! There were acrylic blocks to build your own Crystal Palace, some period clothing to try on, and a few other simple activities. Adults and kids happily spent 2 hours here in the morning, and 2 more hours after lunch. Definitely a must-do for a family London trip.
